Fall Forestry & Wildlife Field Tours

50th Anniversary logo

This October, come help us celebrate the longest running field tour series in Virginia!

Started in 1976 to promote sustainable forest and wildlife management practices, the Fall Forestry & Wildlife Field Tours have become one of the premier landowner education programs in the commonwealth!

To celebrate, we will explore sustainable forestry and wildlife management practices across 4 counties over 4 days (October 20-23). Tours visit private, public, and industry-owned lands and manufacturing facilities. Join us for 1, 2, 3, or all 4 days.

Lodging is available for an additional $40/night (for single and couples sharing a room). This fee includes dinner on the night of your stay.

Please contact Jennifer Gagnon to arrange lodging no later than Friday October 2,  jgagnon@vt.edu, 540-231-6391.

Past tours have visited seedling nurseries, timber harvesting operations, sawmills, pine plantations, cooperages, hardwood forests, arboretums, Christmas tree farms, elk habitat, fisheries, hunting plantations, and more. Lunch and travel between stops allow for plenty of fellowship and opportunities to learn from other participants and natural resource professionals.

Not able to join us in person? Take a short virtual tour!
