Open, frequently-burned, older pine woodlands provide critical habitat for the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker in The Nature Conservancy's Piney Grove Preserve in Sussex County.

Join landowners, natural resource professionals, and other outdoor lovers for day-long tours that explore a variety of sustainable forestry and wildlife management practices. Tours visit private, public, and industry-owned lands. 

Past tours have visited seedling nurseries, timber harvesting operations, saw mills and both public and private forest lands.

Tours are held in October to showcase the beauty of fall in Virginia. 

Lunch and travel between stops allow for plenty of fellowship and opportunites to learn from other participants and natural resource professionals.

The 2023 Fall Forestry & Wildlife Field Tour schedule will be available in June.
