Landowner Programs

Each year the VFLEP partners with Virginia Cooperative Extension, the Virginia Department of Forestry, the Virginia Forestry Association and others to offer workshops and conferences on a variety of topics pertinent to forest landowners. Upcoming programs include:

The Virginia Forest Landowner Education Program offers short courses on a wide variety of timley topics.  Format and length of courses varies.

The Fall Forestry & Wildlife Field Tours:

  • will celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2026
  • involve landowners, state, federal, and forest industry natural resource professionals and representatives of environmental non-governmental agencies
  • inform participants about practical forest and wildlife management techniques which are currently being used in their area
  • share information on current cost-share programs
  • are a great opportunity for networking with other landowners and natural resource professionals

Tree Farm Tours:

  • visit active Tree Farms across Virginia
  • build community among Tree Farmers
  • are offered throughout the year

  • beginner-level offered for those new to woodland management
  • advanced-level offered for those with more experience
  • provide information on both hardwood and pine forest management
  • offer chances for interaction with natural resource professionals from various agencies in Virginia, as well as with other landowners
